Budget Planner In Progress
Next.js · React · TypeScript · PowerSync · Supabase · AI
Overview
Budget Planner is a personal finance application for tracking spending, budgets, savings goals and assets — with bank statement import, cash-flow forecasting and AI-assisted categorisation. It is currently being built by a two-person project team.
We wanted an app that answers three questions well:
- Where did my money actually go?
- Am I on track this month?
- What's my position going to look like at the end of the year?
What It Does
- Allows users to easily import their transactions into the application
- Show different statistics related to their data
- Automatically Track goals and budgets
- AI assisted data categorisation and prediction
How It's Built
Frontend — Next.js and React with TypeScript, styled with Tailwind and built on accessible Radix UI components.
Data and sync — PowerSync for syncing and offline data access.
Authentication — Supabase Auth with OAuth providers
AI — Runs server-side on Cloudflare Workers AI, called through authenticated backend functions.
Engineering Approach
- Primitive feature flagging to control development features
- AI assisted development, with shared pipeline but different setup per developer.
